the page you cite has some very interesting ways of thinking about string hashing.

i'm kind of curious what would happen if the even / odd approach, for instance, were written as using &lt;a href=&quot;http:\\www.openmp.org&quot; rel=&quot;nofollow&quot;&gt;open mp&lt;/a&gt; optimizations.  threading might be a heavy weight for crc generation but i wonder if the optimizer would gain more information about the routine that way.</description>
