there are stoplights near the river that have 6 lights on them (red/yellow/green plus an entire red/yellow/green turn arrow set), PLUS a flashing strobe thingy for when the bridge goes up for boats

what boggles my mind is that they still have to have cops direct traffic during rush hour, because people basically ignore the lights and try to run into the intersections as they turn red, which causes gridlock and confuses the hundreds of pedestrians trying to walk across

(then again, pedestrians are guilty of the same thing, they often keep walking into the &quot;dont walk&quot; sign, not realizing that even though the light is red, cars are turning at them from the cross street... this then precipitates mad horn beeping and cursing)</description>
